Kanga is on the profile name since our mascot is the kangaroo. The kangaroos keep their young in pouches and the pouch symbolizes our shelter.

Welcome!

This project came to be thanks to two young girls by the names of Aisha and Andrea. Both girls know the harsh realities of the real world and what help it lacks. Shelters and runaway centers offer practically no help or hope to those in the same situation. Anyone who finds themselves in a shelter, knows that she/he can only be there during the night. During the day she/he must be searching for a job or go to school. Due to this "hospitality" both girls have come up with the idea of their own shelter/boarding home. This shelter will offer not only a place to sleep, but a place for hope. It will assist teenagers and runaways with life skills, therapy, job training, and leadership skills. Things not ordinarily found in shelters.

Also unlike regular shelters, this haven will be open at any time. There will be no rigid schedule for meal times and assistance. The girls have thought of making a petition to bring attention to this cause. They hope to collect enough signatures to catch the attention of those in high positions. Their first goal is to send the petition to the Ellen DeGeneres Show. They hope that by telling her their story she will open up the door to enable their dream.

When the producers from the show call us we also want to mention certain people to them. These people are inspirational and admirable and they deserve to have their stories told as well :)
